Seminar Icon The 50+ Job Search: Debunking the Myths Record

Part One         Tuesday, October 7, 2008          7 – 8:30  p.m. Eastern
Part Two         Thursday, October 9, 2008        7 – 8:30  p.m. Eastern

Are you experiencing career limitations based on age bias? Are managers afraid that you won’t “fit in?” Join our “most in demand” workshop series to learn how to get past gatekeepers and break down age stereotypes. Read more about this Teleclass...

The 50+ Job Search:Debunking the Myths

Do employers make hiring decisions based upon age? Yes, some do.

Do they make hiring decisions based upon gender. Yes, sometimes.

Do they make hiring decisions based upon ethnicity. Yes, some do.

Biases do exist.

The bad news is that, whether age, gender or ethnicity, the hiring manager may make assumptions about the ability of a person to do the job, based upon beliefs that he/she holds.

The good news is: (1) all hiring personnel do not hold those biases and (2) beliefs about the “older” worker are changeable. One cannot change gender, ethnicity or chronological age, but one can change assumptions about age.

This teleclass will review the research that disproves negative stereotypes. You will learn the often overlooked, but critically important actions for 50+ candidates that lead to interviews and the interview behaviors more likely to lead to job offers.

Participate in this teleclass and learn

  • The most common concerns of employers related to hiring more mature workers, including the myths
  • What you can do to change perceptions
  • Beliefs of mature workers that may get in the way of getting the right job
  • Individual work styles and how those affect selection and success
  • How to get past the Gatekeeper
  • The delicate interview balancing act
  • The Value you add to an organization- your competitive edge
